Lisen! What do you do at DanAds?
Hi! I’m the Chief Marketing Officer at DanAds, responsible for external as well as internal communication.
What does the marketing team do?
We have the honourable task of letting the world know what self-serve advertising is all about. DanAds is contributing with something that benefits both publishers as well as the whole advertising ecosystem, but the concept of self-serve ad platforms is still relatively unknown. That was something that attracted me to this job in the first place. Not many marketers get to be a part of basically creating a new category!
How did you find your way to us?
As with most events in life, it was a series of coincidences that led me to DanAds. After a long career within the B2C marketing world I made the decision to actively change direction and throw myself into something new. My only criteria at the time was to find a company I believed in, a role where I could have an impact, and preferably within tech :-).
During this time I had my second child, my daughter Nora, which gave me the perfect opportunity to step back and reset a little.
It was eventually a friend of mine who is still an investor and huge DanAds fan that put me in touch with our CEO Istvan, and shortly after that I was hired.
What has happened with the company since you started from your perspective? How would you describe DanAds today?
It’s not even 2 years ago that I started, but a LOT has happened since then. I would say we sped through from being a startup to a scale-up during the past 2 years. The team has doubled, our client base has more than doubled, and our ambitions are global and massive. It’s a hell of a ride haha.
How do you like working at DanAds and why?
The best thing about DanAds is by far the people. Even though we were founded in Sweden, our client base is global and we therefore have the luxury of not having Swedish as a mandatory language and being able to hire people from all over the world. We have a great mix of people with different backgrounds and experiences which is one of the reasons for our company culture.
What did you do before joining DanAds?
I initially studied Business & Administration with Marketing as a major. That led me to go work for Mars Inc where their globally known brands such as M&Ms, Snickers, Orbit, Whiskas and Pedigree was the main attraction. I didn’t have a long term plan at the time, but Mars turned out to be a fantastic employer with a strong culture and people-focus that led me to stay there for almost 14 years. A great marketing school as well as a chance to try on multiple roles.
How do you prefer to spend your time when you’re not running our marketing team?
My number one focus is the love of my life Björn and our two kids Theodor and Nora. Outside of work I spend as much time as I can with them. Other things that make me happy is my huge family including my 7 siblings, the best friends you could ask for, skiing and cheese snacks. In that order.
Something not many people know about you
I’m a sucker for American comedies, especially Judd Apatow movies, but also classics like Old School and Dumb Dumber. People may think they are dumb at first glance, but believe me, they are made by absolute geniuses :-).
